Gyrodactilus Salaris PDF Drucken E-Mail

ImageThe salmon parasite G. Salaris has been an unwelcome presence in Norwegian rivers for more than 30 years. The parasite was first confirmed in several locations during 1975-79, after reports of high mortality rates among salmon hatchlings from several rivers and hatcheries. The source was traced to salmon smolt imported from Sweden.

The first rotenone treatment was done in 1981-82 in Sogn og Fjordane County's Vikja River. Since then, 28 rivers have been treated with rotenone.

Røssåga was treated in 2004 and is now considered healthy and rid of the parasite. To ensure that this continues, there are strict rules for disinfecting fishing gear, canoes, etc. There is a bag limit for salmon, which may vary. Please contact us for further information.
