Salmon Fishing in Røssåga. PDF Print E-mail

ImageThe river Røssåga, meandering through the village, is an excellent habitat for trout and sea-trout. And even though much have changed since the «good old days» when British nobility leased the river, salmon of up to 15 kg or more are landed every year. The river is eminently suitable for spinning and fly fishing. Live bait and prawn tackle are not allowed. We also offer fishing facilities for anglers with motional disabilities.
At the time of publishing there is a bag-limit on salmon, which may vary. Please contact us for further information on this.

Røssåga is a very good river for salmon and sea trout, and has a reputation for big, high quality salmon.

ImageIn the pioneer days , when English nobility made Korgen their summer retreat, salmon of up to 25 kg or more were not unusual. Even today, from time to time, some lucky angler lands a «monster» like that. Most salmon caught these days, however, are of a size from 5 to 10 kg, while sea trout are likely to be between 2 and 10 kg.

Fishing Licenses are available at Korgen Camping, idyllically situated right by the river. The owners have made a considerable effort to make the beat easily accessible, and this stretch is therefore eminently suitable for spinning and fly fishing. There is an exclusive fly fishing zone and two log shelters with fireplaces. There is also a fishing jetty for wheelchair users.
